I am currently remaking this book because my anxiety makes me anxious about it and I also dislike all of it except maybe the last two chapters. It has been a while since Jack and Mark had got together with Jack moving in with him. However, Mark has had to keep a dark secret from his boyfriend Jack, his friends and his family. However, it's not so easy to keep such a big secret when keeping it to himself could put everybody's lives at risk. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please give this story a chance, I would really appreciate it as I have been working really hard to make a hopefully enjoyable story. It may have a slow start as I want the audience to feel as immersed in the story as possible, therefore I want a big build up before we get to all the gross and intense stuff. -Cross-post from my Ao3- The Aftermath at Mount Massive is part one of a three part series called Survivors. This part is done. It is a fanfic for the game Outlast, set after the first game/DLC. However, you don't have to know much about the game to jump in. This story follows an independent journalist named Miles Upshur who received an email from a whistleblower, Waylon Park, who worked at Murkoff Psychiatric Systems: Mount Massive. The hospital was supposed to be run as a charity, offering help to those who could not pay, or for those who other hospitals wouldn't accept. However, things weren't as they seemed and Murkoff was using the hospital as a cover for a laboratory where they were performing experiments on humans. The end result of such experiments was the creation of Project Walrider, a bio-nanite parasite that lives inside a human body. Miles stumbles into the facility during a security breach and riot. He manages to survive the night but in doing so becomes infected with the nanites, becoming the new host for Project Walrider. The Aftermath of Mount Massive is about Miles coming to terms with what being the Host means for both his humanity and future.
