In the ash-choked streets of a town that isn't quite hers, Luna wakes to find everything wrong. Her bracelet is gone, her friends are missing, and the plaza she's known all her life has turned into a colorless ruin where whispers ride the wind and shadows wear familiar faces. At the edge of it all waits El Hombrecito-a smiling boy with eyes like swallowed light-who invites her to play games where the rules change, the dangers are real, and losing means more than she can bear to imagine. As Luna follows the trail of her scattered beads through a world between heartbeats, she faces Memory Hounds that feed on names, streets that bend back on themselves, and choices no child should have to make. Each step brings her closer to the truth: in the In-Between, safety is conditional, hope is a weapon, and some doors, once opened, never close. If she wants to save her friends-and herself-Luna must learn the games, outwit the master who made them, and decide what she's willing to sacrifice. Because here, winning and losing aren't what they seem... and the game never really ends.

We have been on the run for days now. The safety of my children is my priority. I was betrayed in the worst way, and I could not watch him hurt us any longer. I never saw my life going this way but here I am running for my life and my children's. This was the last bus stop, and I had a choice to make. I hope that I would not make the wrong one. He could find us at any moment and I imagine him dragging me all the way back by my hair. I didn't know who to trust but sometimes you just have to take a leap. Maybe, with a little luck, I will find the one thing I have been missing and be saved. One could dream, but for now, I'll keep running.
