Glitch In the Glass | A Science Fiction Saga

The world changed after World War Three, but not in the way the historians predicted.
It began, as wars often do, with oil. The last generation of fossil fuel empires clawed and fought for dominance until the price collapsed, bled dry by Canada, Latin America, and the Middle East selling crude for pennies to undercut Russia. The United States and China gorged on the surplus for years-until they boycotted Russian supply entirely.
Russia, cornered and furious, did something no one expected: they tried to buy all the oil left in the world. For a moment, they almost succeeded.
But scarcity breeds invention. A fifteen-year-old prodigy, Gregory James, revealed a vehicle that never needed fuel-self-powered, self-reliant, eternally running. The design spread faster than any government could contain, adapted to homes, factories, entire cities. Energy independence became not just a luxury but a birthright.
Work as people knew it withered. Utopian city-states rose, efficient and abundant, their citizens free to pursue ideas instead of survival. Pollution receded. Animal habitats healed. Humanity seemed... perfect.
Everywhere except Russia.
There, resentment festered in the shadows. One of the prime ministers, Viktor Stallon, gathered an underground faction called Великий русский медведь-The Great Russian Bear. His speeches dripped with contempt for the "laziness" of utopian life, promising to cleanse the world through fire. His first strike destroyed the New York Utopia, killing thousands. His second target was not a city, but... something else.
But that part of the story hasn't happened yet.
