I never planned to wake up in my own novel.
One minute, I'm editing Age of Solari. The next, I'm face-down on the deck of the Widowmaker - right before the leviathan attack I definitely regret writing.
No magic powers. No helpful narrator. Just me, my characters, and a swarm of nightmare squid-people who want me dead for reasons I didn't type.
Now the plot's gone rogue, my creations don't trust me, and the only person speaking my language is a chaos goblin riding a flying rug.
If I can't survive the rewrite, my story's getting a new ending-and so am I.

So, here we are, all of us, lost in this mystical realm with zero memory of where we came from. It's like we all took the world's worst vacation, and now nobody can find their way back home. And guess what we have to guide us? A poem. Because why bother with maps or instructions when you can have cryptic, poetic nonsense? It's almost like Serenus wants us to play a twisted game of "figure it out before you die." Now, the world itself is a total trip. It's a magical land where anything is possible, except, apparently, for things making sense. But don't let the pretty flowers and magical buffets fool you-something's not quite right in this enchanted Eden. You've got all these resources lying around just begging to be used for peace, justice, and all those other warm, fuzzy ideals. It's like someone set up the perfect civilization starter kit, but forgot to mention that some of these folks are dead set on turning this dreamland into their own personal dystopia. And with their magical abilities, they're like toddlers wielding chainsaws-adorably dangerous, but mostly just dangerous. Meanwhile, me and my merry band of misfit friends are stuck trying to save this world from self-destruction. Because apparently, we're the only ones who read the brochure about this place being a "civilized society based on values." And while we're at it, I'm also on a little side quest to answer the age-old question: Who am I? It's not like I have bigger things to worry about, like, I don't know, preventing magical Armageddon or anything. With a charming mix of wit, sarcasm, and a healthy dose of "what-the-heck-is-going-on," the story of Serenus follows our nameless protagonist as they unravel the mysteries of this strange land, all while trying to avoid becoming dino-chow or the latest victim of a magical mishap. It's a tale of self-discovery, magical frisking, and just trying to survive another day in this oh-so-serene-and completely crazy-world.

Highest ranked- #10 in action 2/16/2017 A promotion. That's all I wanted. I didn't want to run for my life. I didn't want to be kidnapped. I didn't want to face death. I didn't want to find out my whole life was a lie. I just wanted a bloody promotion. Guess fate had other plans? **** The cold air fanned over my face as I opened the door. The exit door lead to the back of the building so it was pitch black. I leaned against the wall trying to control myself. Blood was running down my arm and head. My hair was stuck to my face from all the sweat and blood. Everything was spinning around me and the ground seemed like it was shaking. Groaning I sat down and put my head on my knees. He knows who I am. He knows how I look like. He knows where I work so possible knows where I live. I am not safe anymore... no where. While I was in my own world I heard faint sounds behind me but I didn't bother to look or run away. The footsteps got closer and I was pretty sure it was Walker's men. I should run. I should try to fight. But what's the point in trying to run away? He would eventually find me and if he has his way he would most likely kill me. If this is my fate then why am I trying to fight it? I felt someone harshly grab my waist and pull me up and I complied. They dragged me down the alley and into the busy street. I heard the opening of a car and the next thing I knew I was being thrown into a car. My head hit the hard leather seat and the door shut behind me. Maybe this is how my life will end. Maybe I should just let it happen. Maybe I was destined to die alone as a no one. With that I let the darkness consume me.

"Are you ever afraid of being alone?" I asked after a while. A question that had randomly popped into my mind. I wasn't expecting him to answer me, but he did. Jonah turned his face, but I didn't look back at him, I kept staring up at the skies. He turned back to the sky and took a breather before answering. "We're always going to be alone, Rose. Always. We'll be haunted by the darkness that is our own shadow, but in every shadow there's a light." He answered, as if the simplest thing in the world. I only stared at him with a dropped jaw. That was out of this world. Especially coming from Jonah. "When does it get better?" I mumbled. "It doesn't. But to go through it with someone makes it a whole lot easier." He turned back to face me. We stared at each other for a while. He'd always occasionally look down at my lips, and I'd do the same to him. I broke it off and looked back up at the sky. -=- New York City. The place of opportunities. But what shall Rose do when there's so many of them? Jonah, the seducer with a British accent, or Cameron, equally British but sweet. Her clock is ticking. She has one year to make up her mind until the exchange program takes back all their Brits and their New Yorkers return. And so the end-of-the-year party is the final strike. Either Rose chooses...or she doesn't. *WARNING* I began this book (my first book ever) when I was like 11 or 12 years old so the first chapters (idk how many) suck, not gonna lie. I had scrapped so many ideas (that I only really wrote a few chapters of) that when I was older enough to realize the story I had going so far sucked, I didn't want to scrap again, so I finished for that sake in a span of 3 years (and ended in 2014). All in all, not my greatest work, but read on if you wish. Text Copyright © droppedintoxic™ 2014
