Cassandra Nowak had a rough year. She went through a bitter divorce and two miscarriages. On the bright side, she has her job which keeps her busy. Cassie works in a florist shop. It's not her dream job, but it pays the bills. Her dream job is to open and own a Polish restaurant. She has always been fascinated with the Polish culture due to her grandparents being immigrants. Cassie spent a lot of time in the kitchen with her grandmother cooking various Polish meals.

Carole Bradshaw and Cassie have been friends since college. Carole took time off from work so she could visit Nick, her husband, who is at Top Gun, a fighter pilot school, along with his best friend Pete Mitchell. Carole decides to ask Cassie to accompany her on the visit to Top Gun. Her best friend has been through a lot emotionally. Carole wants to cheer up Cassie. During the visit, Cassie notices a blonde pilot who is often referred by the call sign Iceman. Cassie catches Tom Kazansky's attention when she plays with Goose against him and Slider during a volleyball game when Maverick leaves suddenly "to take care of things." Will Cassie get a second chance at love and can she melt Iceman's heart?
