Love in eighth gear. Part one: Love among the speed
Speed means love - untouchable, a burning spark that never slows down.
A small silhouette catches his attention. It's still too far away for him to tell who it is. The light crosses the boy's face as he approaches. Jo's heart skipped a beat.
Until now Jo had thought that only speed could make his heart beat like that, so hard that it would burst out of his chest. He swallowed. The boy got closer and closer and he could felt the adrenaline start to rise again.
Jo can swear that this isn't the adrenaline he feels when he's driving, when the pedal is on the floor. The boy is now only a few steps in front of him. Jo looks into his eyes. A second. That's all it took for the boy to leave Jo breathless. The engine roars once more under Jo's hand as if pushing him forward toward the boy.
"Harua" he says in one breath as if if he spoke anymore he would run out of oxygen. The boy in front of him jumps at the sound of his name.
"Jo" Harua says slowly. So slowly that Jo thinks he just imagined it. Harua takes another step towards Jo. Another and another until he stands right in front of him, a few centimeters separating them.
Jo swallows again. Harua's lips part a little, as if trying to say something. And Jo feels everything around him spinning. His eyes remain fixed on Harua's lips. If he leaned down he could touch them, but what would happen after that?
Harua places his hand on Jo's chest. Then in a voice so soft he says "Would you kiss me?" Jo's head spins faster
And he thinks he imagined Harua talking again because he swears that if he wasn't so close to him he couldn't hear him.
"Would you?" Harua asked again more slowly this time and get closer to Jo.
Jo looks at Harua's lips. He swallows and opens his mouth to speak but nothing comes out. Then he looks up. Harua's eyes are already fixed on Jo, waiting for an answer. In the dim street light, Harua's eyes are so dark that Jo gets lost in their blackness.
