Bumblebee has always felt like he's not where he should be. Like he belongs somewhere else. Optimus Prime is his carrier, and who his sire is he has no clue. Optimus refuses to tell him, and Ratchet tells him he doesn't know. 
Bumblebee has been an outcast amongst the Autobot ranks due to his fangs, claws, and his extreme brute strength. He is bonded to five minicons he had rescued and nursed back to health, his only true friends. They always go with him on missions, and they all share the same room. They even know about Optimus being his carrier, but not his sire. 
After Bumblebee and his minis are captured, Bumblebee sire is relived and everything he and his minis had believed in shatters.
