The Weight of Us by Ashaunta Williams Some love stories are light as air. Ours was never one of them. When a late-night pub encounter throws me into the orbit of Niall Horan, I don't expect anything more than a drink, a laugh, maybe a fleeting memory. But from the moment his blue eyes lock on mine, it's clear - this isn't fleeting. What begins as reckless banter over whiskey spirals into something heavier, something neither of us knows how to carry. There's laughter, stolen kisses, and songs he swears aren't about me. But there's also distance, secrets, and fights sharp enough to cut us both open. We're intoxicating and impossible, passionate and self-destructive. And yet, no matter how hard we try to walk away, the weight of us pulls us back together. This is not a fairytale. This is a love story heavy enough to break us... and beautiful enough to save us.

"Come on, do it, curse, scream, yell at me, hit me, do whatever you have wanted to do all these years." He just stares at me, not doing anything. "Do something! I made a mistake, and I am paying for it, and as if watching you, letting go of yourself as I'm not able to do anything is not enough! I have to watch our friends suffer the consequences of my mistakes. Our friends are done with our bullshit, Harry. And quite frankly, so am I..." Silence. "Say something for God's sake!" I yell, and I look up just to see him with his head bowed down and his shoulders shaking as he sobs . This is all my fault. This is my mess. ... "I believe you, just like I should have from the start." He says gently, and I just cling on him more as I feel his warmth and hear his heartbeat. "Your heart is beating so fast..." I whisper as if it was a secret. "It's beating for you... Always for you, it never stopped beating for you."
