Jack of Hearts (all I can taste is this moment)

Chishiya stays just as still and unperturbed when Niragi steps close enough to touch, as he raises his hands to that pale neck, raising the collar to have enough grip to choke him.

The choke is lighter than they both know it could be.

"Niragi." Chishiya's voice sounds just as condescending as last time Niragi threatened him. He misses his rifle. "I would say I'm surprised to see you, but honestly I should have expected it. You're like a cockroach. People try to kill you but you simply refuse to die."

"Funny way of saying you tried to kill me."

"I suppose. Are you angry about that?"

"Nah, not really. I would've done the same. But you know what does piss me off? Those condescending eyes of yours. You somehow manage to look like you're looking down on me even while I'm standing over you and threatening you."

Chishiya smiles smugly and throws his hands up in mock surrender. A throwback to when Niragi threatened him and all the executives to vote for Aguni as leader after Hatter was killed.

Niragi's eyes narrow. His hands tighten, actually cutting off Chishiya's airflow this time. Chishiya remains stoic but eventually, after almost a minute, his hands instinctively raise and try to pry Niragi's off. Niragi lets him, having already gotten what he wanted. A goddamn normal human reaction.
