A Romantic Novel
Chapter 1
It was a warm spring afternoon. The city was alive with the sound of traffic, the chatter of people, and the distant song of a street violinist. Among all this noise, the library stood like a quiet sanctuary.
Ryan had always loved this library. To him, it wasn’t just a place filled with books—it was an escape, a world of stories where he could forget his own loneliness. He often came here after college, sitting by the tall windows, reading novels and dreaming of adventures he never had the courage to live.
That day, as he flipped through the pages of a worn-out poetry book, his eyes caught something unusual. Across the room, a girl sat near the corner table. Her hair fell gently over her shoulders, and the soft light from the window framed her face like a painting. She was reading too, her lips curving into a smile every now and then—as if the book whispered secrets only she could understand.
Ryan couldn’t look away. He had seen her before, but this was the first time he truly noticed her. Something about her felt… different. She wasn’t just another girl in the crowd—she was like a poem he had never read but always longed for.
Their eyes met for a brief moment. Ryan quickly looked down at his book, his heart racing. Did she notice me staring? he wondered. He tried to read, but the words on the page blurred. His thoughts were no longer with the poetry in his hands—they were with the girl across the room.
When he finally gathered the courage to glance up again, she was gone. Only the chair remained, empty and silent, as if she had never been there at all.
Ryan sighed, closing his book. He didn’t even know her name. But deep inside, he felt something strange—the beginning of a story he didn’t yet understand.
That night, for the first time, Ryan opened his notebook and wrote:
“Dear Stranger, today I saw you for the first time. And somehow, I already feel like my heart knows you.”
