She sighed, tilting her head like I was the slowest molecule in the lab.

"They say stable molecules don't react, but then you walk in, and suddenly I'm an excited electron."

I frowned. "Wait... what?" Did she just compare me to... chemistry?

She arched an eyebrow. "Are you sure you're actually studying chemistry?"

"Of course!" I said, maybe a little too defensively.

Her smirk turned lethal as she stepped closer, her perfume hitting me like a catalyst in overdrive.

"You," she whispered, "are a catalyst who's sped up my heart rate and destabilized my entire equilibrium. Now..." she leaned in, her lips dangerously close, "...you'll have to take responsibility for my heart."

I stared at her, deadpan. "Yeah... that's definitely not in the syllabus."
