Jane never expected to wake up in the middle of a war she once only knew through the safety of a screen.
Pulled into the world of the 100th Bomb Group during WWII, she quickly finds herself at Thorpe Abbots, serving as a nurse in infirmary. At first, survival means keeping her head down, treating the endless flow of wounded, hiding her knowledge of what's to come, and guarding her heart against bonds she cannot afford to make.
But bonds form anyway.
John Brady weaves himself into her life. Jane learns the meaning of waiting, of holding her breath each time the man she cares for disappears into the sky, and of the agony when he doesn't return.
Jane must face not only the war outside, but the battles within her own heart.

Eventually, the marines see her as a friend instead of a foe, and choose to take her under their wing and hire her, yet when things begin to look up for Ruby and the Marine Officer, their situation takes a turn for the worst and grows grim... what will happen next? and will the two be able to travel The Distance?
