Jimin has retreated into isolation due to failed relationships and feeling like no one likes him. He feels like a failure at life because he hasn't accomplished any of his goals and has an overall negative outlook on life and his self worth. The only thing he feels he did well was raise his little brother Taehyung, the only person he's close with.

Jungkook, on the other hand, is a successful Kpop star who has achieved all of his dreams and is surrounded by his supportive bandmates. But even he feels something in his life is missing.

When Taehyung becomes a trainee at Kpop company Hybe, he debuts and Jimin and Jungkook's worlds collide and Jungkook finds himself interested in Jimin. But Jimin only pushes him away. Jungkook is kind and patient and tries to get him to see what he sees in him and know his worth, but when his fans find out about Jungkook's interest in Jimin they send hate comments and death threats.

This causes Jimin to only push Jungkook further away as he feels it confirms his insecurity that no one actually likes him and he'll always be alone.
