Aberdeen, Washington. October, 2002.
Hunter Patterson spends his nights sketching and playing guitar, stuck between the rain-soaked quiet of his room and the chaos of three brothers who never let things stay calm for long.

Colorblind since birth, Hunter sees the world in washed-out tones that blur together, a frustration that bleeds into his art and makes him question how much of life he's missing. Finch, his older brother, is loud, reckless, and protective - the kind of chaos that somehow feels like home. Cody and Felix, the younger ones, are equal parts annoying and hilarious, usually dangling from a hook by the end of the night.

Washed Out is a slow-burning, atmospheric story of music, brotherhood, and growing up in a town that never stops raining. It's messy, funny, and sometimes heavy - just like family.

They were three brothers-hearts full of love, now fractured by tragedy. Ever since the day they lost their mother, their hearts have carried a quiet storm-grief buried beneath unspoken rage, all directed at the one man they once trusted most: their father. And yet, the father remains close-waiting in silence, hoping for a moment, longing for the day his sons will finally let him speak... to reveal the truth that's been buried beneath years of pain. Far away, a girl mourns the loss of her mother-the only family she ever had. In a single moment, she becomes an orphan... even though she knows she has a father who doesn't even know she exists... and the half-brothers who have no idea she was ever born. Her mother never hid the truth, but told it gently, not to place blame, only to help her understand. There were villains in their story, yes... but her parents were not among them. They were both victims of a cruel plan that tore lives apart. And so, her mother raised her with love and with a warning: "He already has a family. Don't go searching for a place where you don't belong." But destiny doesn't listen to warnings. Now, she finds herself in the very house her mother once warned her never to enter. A place heavy with old wounds and buried truths. Among people who see her not for who she is, but for the past she represents. To them, she is nothing more than a living echo of a mistake... a shadow of a history they'd rather forget. In this home, acceptance is a distant dream and survival may be the only thing she can hope for. But sometimes, even a mistake can become the reason to heal something which is broken. Born from a cruel twist of fate... Raised in silence. Can she mend the family which is on the verge of destruction?

I finally met all of Joel's sons. They were all older, incredibly handsome, and tall. Like freaking giants. The youngest sons, twins, must've had at least 3 feet on me. Quinn was absolutely charming, equipped with sun lightened hair and a bright white smile. I could see girls passing by stop to stare at him. Or maybe it was to stare at all my step-brothers. As someone who is just starting puberty, I am incredibly jealous of their flawless skin. Abi Barbara Cohen, genius 11 year old, will be enrolling in her first year at Pacific Prep School with her new older step brothers. What she doesn't know is that she's walked into something drastically larger than her English textbook could hold.
