it takes place after the events of the first movie Amanda and Rudger had their final adventure together and they went on their separate ways Amanda with her life and Rudger, who did NOT disappear, living in the library with snowflake and the others But he still remembers Emily and wishes that there was a way to bring her back Then Zinzan tells him about a legend of someone who was a human but turned imaginary from an ancient mirror but can still imagine things so it up to Rudger and friends to find this human turned imaginary and bring Emily back Side note: before reading this go watch the imaginary on Netflix to understand the worlds and characters in it
