Marcus Ibarra never logged out. Once a failed programmer, he woke on a throne of bone, trapped inside Eternal Reign Online as the Final Boss. His reflection showed horns, armor stitched with screams, eyes burning violet. The HUD whispered: Welcome, FINAL BOSS. Quest: Defy the Heroes. Rule the World. Survive. Warning: Death is Permanent. When the first raid stormed his castle, Marcus begged. "Leave. Please, just leave." But their avatars shattered when he struck. Real voices screamed through chat. No respawn. No second chances. His quest counter climbed: 6 / 10,000. The hunger grew. If he resisted, the armor crushed him until ribs cracked. If he killed, the pain stopped. Night after night he whispered apologies to corpses dissolving into pixels. Only LioraSunblade, the paladin heroine, ever survived his blade. Their clashes lit the servers. "You're real," she whispered once. Marcus laughed bitterly. "And you're prettier code." When the devs patched him-nerfing his power, deleting his army-tens of thousands stormed his throne. It wasn't balance. It was execution. "Do you hear yourselves cheer?" Marcus spat, staggering under their blows. "You call me villain, but you write the script. I only follow the hunger you gave me!" Liora's sword pierced his chest. The HUD flashed victory. Fireworks bloomed. Yet with his dying breath, Marcus clawed past her blade, tearing at the sky itself. The code screamed. The world glitched. Marcus uploaded. He became the game. Respawns vanished. Loot boxes died. Every death was real. "You wanted a villain," he whispered across every server. "Now you'll play mine." And sometimes, when players log in, their HUD flickers and a voice greets them: Welcome back, Hero. Your death will be permanent.

Orion was once a legend at least online. In his twenties, he was a pro gamer with a devoted fanbase, crushing tournaments and streaming to thousands. But that was a lifetime ago. Now at forty, he's single, broke, working a soul-crushing fast-food job, and dodging bill collectors while clinging to the only joy he has left: anime marathons and all-night MMO grinds. His escape? Dragon Rebellion, a fantasy RPG crawling with monsters, corrupt kingdoms, divine quests, and of course the occasional harem subplot. Orion pours every ounce of his dwindling spirit into his main character: a maxed-out level 900 Viking warrior who's practically a walking raid boss himself. But fate hits the pause button mid-battle. In the middle of a world-first raid attempt, Orion suffers a sudden stroke at his desk. Darkness claims him... yet instead of game over, he wakes up in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by blood, steel, and sorcery. The kicker? He's no longer Orion the man he's been reborn as his overpowered Viking avatar, stats and all, in a world uncannily similar to Dragon Rebellion. With strength that shatters mountains, skills that bend reality, and a lifetime of gamer knowledge, he'll carve his way through this new realm. But power isn't his only challenge. Scheming nobles, divine conspiracies, and clingy party members with questionable motives are all lining up to complicate his second shot at life. For Orion, this isn't just another grind it's his Final Save File.
