This story takes place in 2007, in the small town of Saranac Lake, New York, and follows Lyric Sterling, a rebellious 18 year old girl, a recovering drug addict with a glowing personality and huge heart despite raised in what she would describe the pits of hell. A careless gang leader for a mother who drove away her father, and an enormous family that she created but frequently neglected. And Troy, a 17 year old delinquent, who is humorous, passionate and a little bit reckless. He's quite normally reserved because of his childhood, his mother an early retired surgeon who drowned her sorrows in alcohol, a father who bolted after his older sister took her life, and a little brother who Troy spent his teenage years taking care of. But when she walked through the door of the gym, so effortlessly captivating, he was completely and utterly drawn to her, and now he just cant seem to leave her alone. Little did Lyric know this strangely alluring man who quickly turned into her biggest bestfriend and pain in the ass would be the one to coax her heart back open again after years of settling for heartbreak.
