Remus followed her out of the Great Hall, his quiet gaze never leaving her. Something was wrong. Rilana Black never let her emotions slip, never allowed cracks to show. Yet now, beneath the open night sky, she stopped at the edge of the Black Lake and broke.
Her knees hit the ground as if the weight of everything she had buried finally pulled her down. Silent for so long, her sobs tore through the stillness, raw and unguarded.
Remus lowered himself beside her, his voice gentle, almost hesitant. "Talk to me, Ri. What's hurting you?"
Rilana lifted her face, streaked with tears, eyes blazing with a grief she could no longer contain. Her voice trembled, breaking as the confession left her lips
"I love him, Remus. I'm in love with someone I can never have."
