Vampires are born, not made. So when a mad man embarks on an unauthorised mission to create them, the results are disastrous. Unhinged, bloodthirsty monsters roam the world of Enorrah with no other motive but to feed and kill, dragging the already frowned upon name of pure Vampires onto the mud.
It is up to the Vampiric Extermination Bureau to handle the problem of the impures.
Brought to work together as VEB agents are Amara, a powerful, stern and silent vampire who has never required nor seen the need of a familiar, and Ezekiel, a familiar without a master.
Ezekiel is destined to grow weaker and slowly die without a master to live for. Because of his scars and loyalty to his former master, Ezekiel is only waiting to rest peacefully forever.
However, when he meets Amara, he cannot help but be drawn to her strength, ruthlessness, and what lies beneath her cold exterior. The impure vampires and his looming death seem to be the least of his problems.
