Phoenix Mercer was good at two things that defined his life. He had the ability to manipulate electricity to his will and allowed it to crackle along his skin as if it were a defensive layer between him and the world, and he could run like his life depended on it. Sometimes, it did. But when the Avengers learn of his existence and take him in after he accidentally electrocutes a courtroom of strangers, police officers, a jury, judge and what's left of the Mercer family, Phoenix is forced not to run and has to learn what it feels like to stay.
