Kim Taehyung wakes up on her bed, sunlight brushing her cheeks. Her eyes flutter open, and she stares blankly at the ceiling, her heart heavy.
"Was it really just... a dream?"
She touches her neck, expecting the royal necklace King Jungkook gave her. It's gone. She looks around-no silk sheets, no palace, no golden dress. Just her small bedroom with peeling posters and her cracked window. She sits up, stunned.
"But it felt real... Jungkook felt real."
Footsteps sound outside her door. Her mother's voice yells from downstairs.
Her mother's voice rang out:
"Taehyung! Don't forget to clean the dishes!"
Taehyung closed her eyes and sighs deeply, the ache in her chest blooming once again.
