On a cool August afternoon, two college freshmen were walking back to their dorm rooms. Becka and Clare were hanging out by the same park where they first met back in fifth grade; they've been friends all the way up to their freshman years. They were hanging out at this park because it was their favorite place, full of happy memories from their childhoods, when the two would get into trouble because of something they both did. It was also where they first witnessed violence in this world. Two homeless people were being beaten by a female cop who was screaming "Stop resisting!" in that somewhat dim voice women can have.

Two best friends. One harmless video call. A night that should've ended with laughter and sleepy goodbyes. But when Nina drops her phone and lifts it back up, something changes. Jade's face is different-smiling when she shouldn't be. And then she says it: "There's something under your bed." As fear twists into paranoia and reality begins to blur, Nina and Jade cling to each other through the screen, too terrified to move, too scared to sleep. But the deeper they dig into their shared nightmare, the more Nina starts to question everything-including her friend. What started as a simple call becomes a slow descent into something darker. Something watching. Waiting. Smiling.
