Assistant District Attorney Rafael Barba's big brass ego is as infuriating as it is charming, and Daisy Evans has met her fair share of ADAs in her year working for Manhattan's Special Victims Unit to know that he is, by far, the most annoying specimen out there. It is also no secret that she wants to bite his head off every time he as much as opens his mouth-which he does, frequently-but when her past comes back to haunt her and they learn more about each other than they ever thought possible, she starts to realize that there may be more to Rafael than what meets the eye. Perhaps the universe knew what it was doing, after all, when she asked for a reason to stay, and shortly thereafter, he walked into her life with a pair of colorful suspenders and a 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 belt around his neck.

Maddox's work keeps her busy, too busy for an actual relationship. This has never bothered her since no one has managed to hold her interest... at least not until now. A Rafael Barba/original female character story. I originally posted it on AO3 under a different title (one I've never really liked) and am rewriting it as I post it here. It started from an idea I was kind of playing with and has an unconventional start, but as I kept writing I really started to like the development of the relationship, so much so, that it become the first story I actually finished. There's smut... lots of smut, fluffy bits too. I've fudged Barba's age a bit because I wanted Maddox to be in her mid twenties and a fifteen year age gap was as large as I was willing to go. It has thirty five chapters and I will work on rewriting them in between new chapters for my other stories. They need a lot of work. The first four were posted at once because that's the point I decided I liked the story enough to originally post it.
