SUMMARY:

"Mira, we need to talk."
Mira hummed as she glanced up at me, her gaze locking with mine as she stared with those beautiful brown eyes.
"Yeah, what's up?"
She asked so innocently, and I searched for words like I was about to break something fragile.
Mira loved me. How could I be so cruel?

"It's about Zoey."

"What about her?"

Mira tilted her head in confusion, oblivious to the tone of my voice, my loss for words, and the heartbreaking shimmer in my eyes that is screaming a million apologies.
I stammered as I let out the dreaded words, my throat aching with a loathing guilt.

"I love you. I really do. But recently.. My feelings have been, well.. Complicated."

"Complicated how?"

Her face pricked with perplexity, her stare darting from me, to my twitching hands, my hesitating eyes, then into her lap.
My heart felt like it was about to snap into two.
Then, her face shifted. The realisation creeping in as she processed the statement in real time.

"Oh."
