Told in stark, timestamped fragments, we follow Mark's final months as he documents the brutal realities of his declining body, the stinging beauty of the world he must leave, and the agonizing truth that his parents may never truly see him. His only confidante is a classmate, Leila, who is fighting her own war against a violent home-a mirror of the pain Mark keeps locked inside.
The story begins where it ends: with Mark's death. His parents, cleaning out his room, discover the notebook. As they turn the pages, they are forced to confront the son they never knew and the devastating cost of their emotional absence.

But after Ezra 16th birthday things go downhill when his mother gets sick and dies his dad has to return to the FBI to help catch the second generation of criminals, Ezra has a close call to Death twice and they get sent to a boarding school.
