Book Two of the Starfields Series
by Stephanie Medellin
Stephanie Montgomery never imagined she'd find home among the stars-until Leonard McCoy asked her to build one with him.
But just as their future begins to take shape, the Enterprise is thrown into a storm of loss, vengeance, and betrayal. The death of Admiral Pike sends shockwaves through the crew, and Stephanie is left reeling-torn between duty as a doctor, grief as a daughter figure, and love for the man who placed a ring on her finger.
Leonard holds on to her with everything he's got. Because he's seen what happens when she throws herself into danger to save others-and this time, he's terrified she won't come back. Stephanie loves him just as fiercely, but love doesn't make the decisions easier. Not when Starfleet falls under corruption, not when enemies come from within, and not when the woman Leonard proposed to may not be the same one who can survive what's ahead.
War brews in the dark. Hearts fracture under pressure. And love-real love-may not be the constant they thought it was.
Can they hold on to each other,
when the universe begins to pull them apart?

I Told The Stars About You | McCoy
"Starfleet said 'to boldly go,' not 'to boldly bleed onto the pavement'", I groaned, rubbing my shoulder. "But here I am, really going for extra credit." ************* Diana Blake never wanted to stand out. Raised in a quiet English town far from the shining halls of Federation power, Diana arrived at the Academy without legacy, brilliance, or ambition for command. What she does have is a rare gift: she listens. Not just to what people say, but to what they don't. To the moments before conflict. To the tension that goes unnoticed - until it doesn't. Drawn to Xenoanthropology and Cultural Conflict Studies, Diana studies the patterns that lead to misunderstanding, the fractures that turn into wars. While her classmates chase leadership and glory, she focuses on empathy, observation, and the quiet work of keeping peace before it's broken. She forms an unexpected bond with Dr. Leonard McCoy, whose gruff exterior masks a deep well of understanding. Through late-night discussions, stubbornness, and quiet cups of tea, she begins to find her footing. ************* [19/08] #6 in 'startrek' [14/12] #1 in 'drmccoy' [14/12] #1 in 'starfleet' [14/12] #1 in 'startrekintodarkness' Rated for swearing, a few sexual situations (rated 18+ only, warnings will be displayed), mature themes such as grief, violence, death, mental health issues.
