Everyone might want to be in the spotlight, to be the center of attention, to be praised and looked up to by many people. But not me... I prefer to stay hidden, away from the judging eyes of others. I've found comfort in being alone, and having my peace is enough for me. But why is it, that when I'm at my peace, someone shows up and crushes the walls I've built around myself for a long time? Why do they always appear at the wrong time? Melting my defenses, taking everything from me, including my heart... But in the end, It always ended up me being left behind, hurting, abandoned, and forgotten with an empty heart. Why do they seem to enjoy toying with people like me, who in the first place, simply want peace? How can I overcome these changes in my life now? Can I rebuild the walls that have crumbled, or do I choose to be crushed beneath the weight of it all?

After fleeing her abusive ex in the middle of the night, Chloe Dawson arrives in a small coastal town with nothing but a duffel bag, a crying six-month-old baby, and the last of her savings. She rents a tiny apartment where the walls are paper-thin. Next door lives Sergeant Mason Kane, disciplined, exhausted, emotionally closed off, and currently on leave between military assignments. After years in the army, silence is the only thing that helps him sleep. Then the baby starts crying every night. At first, Mason is irritated. Chloe is terrified of him. Every knock on the door reminds her of the man she escaped.
