Warsaw, mid-1950s. In the shadow of the people's state and its monumental buildings, people disappear-quietly, without a trace, without explanation. A young priest becomes entangled in a case that tests his faith, loyalty, and conscience. Alongside a cynical Citizens' Militia lieutenant and a young clerk, he discovers that evil is not always something you can point to. A dark tale about what happens when the machinery of the state collides with something that cannot be entered into the record.
