This is the story of Rin, a 22-year-old medical student from Tokyo, whose life turns into a nightmare after the sudden kidnapping of his friend Kira. The only clue leads him to Kai-Shi - a mysterious underwater republic where Japanese and Russian cultures, 90s magic, and technology that should've been left alone collide. But Kai-Shi is no place for tourists. It's a city where the authorities are corrupt, violence is mundane, and illegal brothels operate in broad daylight. To find Kira, Rin will have to descend into the heart of darkness: investigate brutal crimes, face possession, magic, and his own demons - and realize that sometimes saving someone means losing yourself. This novel is a brutal, honest, and uncompromising look at how far one can go for love, and what remains of a person when the line between victim and perpetrator is erased.

BOOK ONE Ashley Wilson There are those who say fate is something beyond our command. That destiny is not our own, but I know better. Our fate lives within us, you only have to be brave enough to see it. Marrying a stranger wasn't the best decision I made, but it certainly wasn't the worse. The worst was allowing Kai Bliss into my heart. ~ Kai Bliss I wasn't the son my father wanted, that role was always reserved for Kian. They say fate cannot be controlled, along with emotions- that's bullshit. If you have the right amount of power; you can control anything, including your fate.
