"You're thinking too much again, Asahi."

Shisui's voice echoed in her memory, warm and teasing the way it always had been beneath the training field sky.

"I'm the eldest," she had answered quietly back then. "If something happens to you, to Itachi... to Sasuke... I'm supposed to protect you all."

Shisui had laughed softly.

"Then stop trying to carry the whole world by yourself."

But the world had burned anyway.
