Calum Hood's eyes have been on that ball since the day his mother died. Screw affection and a motherly figure, what he needed was something to keep his mind on, and his eyes. After being successful with his "beast baller" moves from that one day of second grade that his mother died, till today, as a junior student at Summer High, basketball had always been his vent... Or at least one of the healthier ones. But as he continues playing, he realizes that basketball is becoming his future. It's something he is good and stable at... But his childhood dream to be a music artist nags him in the back of his head. After all, playing the bass and singing won't get him a scholarship. They only do in stories... Yet he can't help but to wonder maybe it's his time to have a happy ending... "How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
