But life doesn't ask what we want to keep. It drifts away like a wave, carrying off everything we can't hold tight enough.
Now I look back and see the footprints we left in the sand-the ones that disappeared, and the ones that were never meant to last. I remember the summer that was supposed to last forever. I remember the world I used to know. And I remember the version of myself who believed you could be everything to everyone without losing who you are.
