Delilah Newby hadn't been in Hawkins long, but people already knew her, mostly because of her dad, Bob Newby.
He was the one who brought the AV Club to Hawkins Middle School. It wasn't some big deal or anything, but people remembered stuff like that in small towns. And when they found out he had a daughter? Well, the name stuck.
There was something about her, the way she walked into a room like she already knew who she was. She was kind, smart, and always "down to earth". People liked her. But Delilah liked the quiet ones, the real ones, the ones who didn't care about being liked.
Life at home wasn't always easy. Her parents, Bob Newby and Michelle Peréz, were together, but their fights could fill the quietest rooms. The tension hung heavy sometimes, and Delilah learned early on how to navigate around it, keeping her peace without making waves. She didn't say much about it, instead, she focused on the small moments of calm, the smiles, and the reasons to keep going.
Hawkins wasn't perfect, but it was new. And Delilah was holding on to that, the chance to breathe, to just be herself, and maybe find someone who saw her beyond the name, beyond the noise.
