It wasn't a love story, at least not for me. 

With events that began and ended with me and Alejandro. We rushed into things that was too intense for a couple of kids. We didn't know what being in a relationship really meant.
  
In a perfect fairytale, the princess would get the prince but my life isn't a fairytale. I'll be taking you through a year in my llife. That if I was being honest, that couldn't be forgotten. I wouldn't forget the good and the bad moments and there were bad ones. It thought me something useful... 
  
This is a story of two naive teenagers that find out that it's not as easy being together then it is like in the movies. They find this out with realistic life lessons. That Athena and Alejandro would remember for the rest of their lives.

"That was weird, but I can't stop my heart beating ten times faster than it should be. Laying down on the bed I face away from the bathroom door not wanting him to look at me. I pull the white cover up to my nose and look at the wall. I hear the bathroom door open and footsteps reach closer to the bed. The covers are being moved behind me as Mateo gets ready to sleep. I reach up to turn off the lap on my nightstand, and when I do we're left in the dark abyss of my room. Mateo's arm wraps itself around my waist and pulls me back into his hard chest. He gently lifts my head up and puts it back down onto his bicep. I take in a shaky breath and close my eyes deciding it is best to just sleep. Feeling his breath on the crown of my head, I'm more relaxed than I was before and start feeling sleepier by the second. But before sleep overtakes my mind. I hear Mateo mutter something. "Good night sweetheart." ~~~~~~ Moving on. Growing up. The fears of Mateo and Veronica. Two strangers who have been attending the same high school for the past three years. They believe they are different from each other but they have much more in common than they believe. Senior year things change when Mateo finds an interest in Veronica. She decides to give him a chance and see where the friendship goes. What she doesn't realize is that she's falling for him faster than she thought...and he feels the same. Through a camera lens, Mateo shows Veronica how to live her life to the fullest and that she is not alone in this big world. Meanwhile, Veronica is helping Mateo move on from the tragic incident that occurred in his family. Having faith and trusting that their relationship will stay strong. He had a dangerously evil smile on. I knew my cheeks were going red, I pushed him away and rushed towards the the door. "You always do this." I mumble quietly, trying to catch my breath which I lost in the heat of the moment. "Would you be lying to me if you said you didn't like it?" He replied, walking over to me. Writing a memoir at only fifteen years old has taught me a lot. Giving me the time to reflect on the lessons I learned the hard way and the mistakes I've made thus far. I learned, if there is at least two sides to every story, there is at least two sides to every person. What could be a smile is a broken heart in a deeper reality. We all live in a society where nothing is as it seems, the people being more complex and astonishing than the countless novels we read. And in a world ruled by tragedies, we are the survivors. Getting through our own history, more important to us then what we read in school. We take our story one page at a time, word by word because in the end, it will all be worth it. I dedicate this memoir to the people who have been with me on my journey of self discovery, even if only in spirit. Mom- Who has made non stop sacrifices to ensure my happiness and well being. Nothing would be possible without you! Grandma- Who has inspired me and made a huge influence to the person I am now and who I'll be in the future. Callie- My own personal slave, illustrator, editor and full time best friend. Sam Tsui- The album "Make it up" taught me to not be scared of not knowing what's going to happen next. Being young and naive Isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it brings way to new experiences, to be vulnerable and crying doesn't make you any less of a person. That we're all human and it's ok to embrace it.

"Listen Kenzy, I know I've been an ass and truthfully maybe you shouldn't even bother returning my calls. You're right, I've been nothing but awful since we met, driving you away yet desperate to keep you close" My heart clinches, but I dared not breathe. Too afraid to give in, too afraid that if I reach for the phone, I'll call. I'll call to make it right. I want to make it right, because this man affects me more than I ever thought he would. But it isn't right. I can't give myself false hope. "Please just talk to me, let me explain. It's not you.....it's me. I'm the asshole. You don't deserve this, you didn't. ..." He pauses and I hold my breath still, fearing he'd hear me breathe, yet, it's only his left voicemail on the phone. Not him "I'm sorry.......dammit!"
