Everyone had an online boyfriend back in high school, right?
You know the one. You weren't sure if you were being groomed, catfished, or if a cute guy in some faraway place was actually attracted to you.
At least, that's what Astrid has always told herself.

Now 25, Astrid is the Head Archivist at The Athenaeum. She loves her job, tolerates most of her coworkers, and can finally see a future for herself in the life she's made. Her boss, Ben, is a hardass - but they understand each other. Her coworker and friend, Kendra, keeps her sane by taking her clubbing every Friday night. Life is good, and Astrid has zero interest in adding anything or anyone else to her plate.

Adam Campbell took over his family's construction business at the age of 18 after the sudden death of his father. He carved out a name for himself by specializing in museums and historical buildings. While researching for a bid for The Athenaeum's new wing, he spots a familiar name on the staff directory. Astrid Blake - the girl who tutored him in history over video calls, sent him a care package when his father first got sick, and broke his heart a month before their high school graduation - all without ever meeting in person.

Astrid doesn't feel deserving of love. Adam is chasing ghosts from his past. Whether fate has brought them back together or if they both need to learn how to let go is something they will have to find out for themselves. But now, seven years later, maybe the timing is finally right.
