Dean Winchester doesn't even like the coffee cake at Benson's Café, but he orders it every morning anyway. Ritual is safer than change. Then one day, he notices someone new by the window, a man in a trench coat, still as stone, with eyes that make the noise of the café fade into silence.
It should've been just another stranger passing through. Instead, Dean blurts something awkward about the lousy cake, and the man replies with nothing more than a quiet observation before walking out. A name lingers behind, left in the waitress's farewell.
Cas.
Dean goes back to his motel, telling himself to forget it. But he knows he won't. Tomorrow morning is already waiting.

During a dangerous case with Sam and Dean something goes wrong and Castiel goes missing, this isn't like the other times Cas has disappeared, this is different, it's strange even for Cas. With Castiel gone Dean doesn't eat or sleep he just drinks and prays wondering if Cas can hear him. Day and night he checks the newspapers and police reports from every city, and county in the US for any sign of the trench coat angel. With no leads things become even more bleaker.
