Aarav Mehta never believed memories could vanish like files.
At nineteen, his world was code, caffeine, and late-night experiments. Sitting in front of three glowing monitors, he typed into his private lab server.

And then it happened.

Lines of text appeared on his screen without his touch:

> "You are not supposed to remember this."

The room fell silent. His hands froze over the keyboard. A second later, he tried recalling his tenth birthday-his mother's laugh, the cake, the cricket bat gift.

But the memory was gone.

Just gone.

Like someone had pressed delete on his mind.

In a dystopian bazaar that exists outside time, people trade memories like currency. You can sell your happiest moment to buy a skill, or auction off your heartbreak to erase someone else's. But the more memories you lose, the more your identity fractures-and some traders aren't even human anymore. Chaotic Structure: Each chapter is written from a different memory's point of view. Time jumps erratically-sometimes forward, sometimes backward, sometimes sideways. Characters forget who they are mid-scene and start behaving like someone else. The narrative is interrupted by "memory glitches"-pages with corrupted text, missing words, or surreal imagery. The climax is a bidding war where the protagonist tries to buy back their childhood, but someone else already owns it. Main Character: A girl named Kira, who wakes up with no memories and a receipt for something she doesn't remember buying. She's determined to find out what she sold-and why it was worth everything And Aarav, Role: The Memory Broker Backstory: Aarav was once a neuroscientist who tried to cure his sister's amnesia by experimenting with memory transference. When the experiments went wrong, he lost his own memories and became a broker in the Bazaar-trading fragments of identity for survival. He now wears a mask made of old receipts and speaks in half-remembered proverbs. Personality: Mysterious, philosophical, and emotionally guarded Speaks in riddles and metaphors, but occasionally breaks into raw vulnerability Has a soft spot for Kira, though he pretends it's just business Conflict: He holds the key to Kira's lost childhood-but selling it might erase his last connection to his sister. Their destinies are tangled in a web of forgotten truths, and only one of them can reclaim what was lost without losing themselves.

America was never an honest man- nor an honest country. He trusted himself much to highly, and eventually it seems to bite him right where it hurts- his own ego. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He glanced at the window- he felt it was quite obvious he was fake sleeping, yet the ones outside didn't seem to realize. He'd tucked the key away- damn, was he forgetting anything? No, they were only coming to get him. He heard his window break and the bullets start to cut through him- it hurt, sure but he could deal with it. The gun he kept under his pillow was raised- a few bangs and one of them dropped, but not the others. One ran forward and he felt a needle in his arms- by then, it was too late. She drove slowly through the canyon walls into the place she called home. It seemed quiet, but she guessed it was just the early morning- nobody here was really a morning person. She drove into the commons slowly, so that people on their horses could dodge her car- well, there was nobody in the commons. She jumped out of her car. Something was wrong. The entire town was like a ghost had overcome it. "What?" the tidal wave came crashing down when she saw the bullets in the far wall, "No!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rated Mature for themes of excessive violence, self-harm, torture, and kidnapping. The Lies That Led To You by concernedpenguin
3 parts Ongoing Mature
The forest in Himachal had its own voice. It whispered through the pines, sighed through the rivers, and sometimes-when the mist was heavy-it carried secrets too old for the world to remember. Aarav never believed in whispers. He believed in evidence, in shadows that revealed themselves under the right light, in truths buried beneath lies. Yet here he was, standing in the middle of a forest path under a sky of dying twilight, listening. His torch cut through the fog, and his jaw tightened. Somewhere in these woods lay an answer-an answer tied to the case that had dragged him back to Himachal after years of running from his past. Redemption. He scoffed at the word. A few miles away, Meera Joshi had no such burdens. Her world was filled with books, laughter, and the thrill of adventures her professors called reckless curiosity. Today, that curiosity had brought her into the same forest, notebook in hand, chasing folktales for a university project. Where others saw danger, she saw wonder. The legend spoke of a curse bound to these woods-a curse that clung to the guilty, that only forgiveness and truth could undo. Most dismissed it as folklore. Meera wanted to understand it. Aarav wanted to dismantle it. Neither expected the forest to weave their paths together. Neither knew that a single meeting, half accident and half fate, would turn into the kind of story that could shatter walls, heal wounds, and blur the lines between mystery and love. And when they did meet-grumpy detective and sunshine student-it wouldn't just be the forest keeping secrets anymore.
