Hitting the pavement hard enough to bruise the muscles in his back will never compare to opening his eyes and seeing nothing in color as he blinks the pouring rain out of his eyes. The residing pain made his arm shake from feeling the lightning go through his skin.

He could feel the vibrations and the ache in his head. His helmet was gone, and he grabbed it more out of reflex than anything else, knowing without a doubt that he needs it. Muscle memory telling him so.

But none of it compares to looking up and seeing Buck hanging there and only seeing him in black and white. The night sky behind him seems even darker, and his entire world feels like it's halting. Freezing as the rain hits his face, but it's as though he doesn't even feel it. Eddie thinks that he may not feel anything at all.
