Calder Floyd has always seen the world through a cracked lens. Dealing with his parents' divorce and constantly grappling with a string of personal failures, Calder has come to expect the worst out of life, and with a craving for a change of pace, he separates himself from his family and heads off to college, hoping to find love and light in the world even if he has to create it himself. But even in a new city, the weight of the world doesn't ease. His car breaking down on his first day of college felt like the biggest insult to his new independence, adding to his pessimistic nature toward the world. That is, until he meets Devin-a carefree, unshakably kind boy who seems to find beauty in everything Calder has spent his life rejecting. Devin lives like the world is worth loving, and somehow, he makes Calder want to believe it too. As their companionship deepens and feelings Calder thought only existed in movies, the story he thought he was living starts to change. Through chance moments, late-night walks, and shared silence, Devin teaches Calder that maybe the world isn't beautiful in spite of its ugliness-but because of it.

Yara Love is everything her parents ever dreamed of-successful, driven, and brilliant in the courtroom. As one of the youngest partners at her prestigious Dallas law firm, she's spent her life chasing excellence and ignoring the ache that comes from loneliness, control, and the aftermath of a love that nearly broke her. Her mother says she's too focused on her career. Her friends say she's scared of intimacy. Yara just says she's fine. Then a weekend trip to rural Texas changes everything. Sevion Taylor is a man of quiet power. Raised in the shadows of the streets, he's since built a life of solitude on his sprawling ranch-horses, dirt roads, and a silence he wears like armor. But behind his peaceful exterior is a dangerous past and a loss that still haunts him. He doesn't look for love, and he damn sure doesn't trust it. But when Yara walks into his world, she stirs something in him he thought he'd buried. What begins as stolen glances and late-night conversations becomes something deeper-slow-burning, raw, and real. As they learn each other through farm chores, city visits, secrets, and scars, Yara and Sevion must decide if love is strong enough to hold two people pulled in opposite directions. When old wounds surface and the noise of the world creeps back in-through ghosts from his past and demands from hers-they'll both have to ask the same question: Can a love born between two worlds survive when both are being pulled apart?
