The day the Crimean War ended... It was march. Everyone who was in the orphanage watched as families were reunited after two whole years. All of them had no one, so they just watched from the confinements of the orphanage. Esmeralda Adams was 17, 3 months away from aging out. She had come to this orphanage as a baby, left on the doorstep in a cardboard box. Over the many years she had gone through 10 different families, but they would always bring her back... When she was 10, no more families wanted her, having to watch as babies grew old, kids went away to families. No one wanted a kid who was about to be an adult... right? She always had to do everything for the kids, take care of them as she was the oldest there. But everything changed the night of April 1st, a night of despair, a night of death...

Never before had the young woman been allowed to see the family she'd left behind. All she wanted was to let them know she was safe and being well cared for. Today was going to be her first contact. She walked down the aisle of the near empty church towards the man praying at the front pew. She thought of all the things she wanted to say to him. That she loved him. That she was living in a beautiful place among kind people. When she arrived at her father's side she was shocked to see how frail he had become. She reached out to hold his hand, and then gasped as her hand passed through his. Then she remembered that people living on Earth could not perceive her presence, and she wept. A lady took the young woman's hand, and said softly, "That's enough for today. Let's go home."
