Two brothers. One prophecy. A city on edge. A prophecy whispered in secret. In a world where holiness wears the face of sin, and sin carries the weight of holiness, who will rise, and who will be broken? An irony of twins: one to bleed, one to bear. One to fall, one to endure. Ocran and Blay - bound by destiny, named by contradiction. The Two Holy Sins. The Lamb Beast - holy, yet slain to take away sin. The Ox Beast - sin, yet set free to carry holiness. Yet Ocran remembers nothing of who he truly is. All he knows is this: he has been summoned to Jankofa, promised that if he finds work there, he may see his brother again. But was he led toward destiny-or betrayal? Each step he takes risks not only his own life, but also the fragile lives of those he comes to love. A young man walking unknowingly into destiny. Now pursued by powers that see him as threat, messiah, or executioner, even the hunt for the Cat Whale becomes only the beginning. For Ocran must confront the question that shadows his every breath: Is he the Lamb who redeems, or the Ox who bears holiness in a jar of sin?

"Dressed in bronze chainmail armour like a snake's skin, a heavy silver, poison dipped arrow in his hand, a bow on the other, and face blocked off by his helmet, the knight stood his ground on top of the mountain's cliff as the dragon swooped down at him. On and on they went, shooting arrows and fire at each other, until the man was down to his last arrow. The evil, obsidian beast and its radiant blue flames had taken everything from him. And now he would do the same. But as he placed his last arrow on his bow, the dragon came down at him with his sharp, charcoal black talons and slashed at the knight. The beast tore through his armour and body, pushing him back with the powerful beating if his wings. As the young knight tumbled downhill, a strange beauty came running into the clearing at the bottom of the beast's layer. His helmet slipped off his head and revealed a bloody, bruised face. A familiar face. And it was only then, I realized the knight was me, and woke up with gasp." --- Find out what happens in Alex Beck's story, The Blood of the Beast.
