The island of Fáro used to be holy. Once blessed by the Divine Goddess Ayasha and protected by magical beings called Myzicas, most of its protectors have been slain or have mysteriously vanished, resulting in the island becoming a devastating desert wasteland.

August is a young adult struggling to provide for her ailing adopted mother in her rugged, near-ghost town. When she's caught breaking the law and is captured, she's taken to Devonne Institute for Delinquent Children, an institute set on reforming Fáro's wayward children run by the altruistic, noble, and scientific genius Altricia S. Devonne.

It's clear from the beginning that she was never meant to fit in - and that the institute isn't what it seems beyond its seas of equal children and Devonne's preachings that August must find out for herself.

Vixen is Devonne's personal righthand, raised by the headmaster since she was a baby abandoned by the river. When she meets August, she's instantly intrigued by her and becomes enveloped in her world, soon making her question the own ideals she has been taught by Devonne all her life.

Together, the two face dangerous secrets, disturbing truths, and a furious race against the clock - all while realizing that they are two fires meant to burn as one.
