Zuko had grown used to his birthday not being regularly celebrated; passed off in favor of his sisters or just blatantly ignored. Zuko doesn't know when the last time was when he celebrated; the gaang is there to fix that.
Or: Everyone shares birthdays to get to know each other better and it slowly grew into taking everyone to a pond in favor of the birthday boy's wishes.
