Signal in the Pines is a collection of posts and personal accounts from Everly Walker, a woman looking for a fresh start after a messy firing at her last radio job. Everly accepts the position of radio host and producer for "The Howler" and relocates to the outskirts of Brimfield, a small town tucked away in the backwoods of Montana, living in a large, old lookout tower. However, she is not alone; already living in the station is Kit Wilson, a newly hired private forest ranger, and his dog, Dakota. Hired simultaneously for seemingly separate jobs, they learn their true job is the same: protect Brimfield from what lurks in the surrounding woods and shadows. It was strange but simple at first; however, it didn't take long before it turned into something far more dangerous: far more than either of them had signed up for.

What if the door they warned you about... was the only one that called your name? What if the voice sounded familiar - like someone you lost? Would you open it? And when your reflection smiled back with eyes that weren't yours... would you still believe you were safe? What if you were the one possessed - but too aware to stop it? And what if the only people who could save you... were the ones already breaking? How do you fight a demon... when it's wearing your soul like skin?
