Garrett DeLuca is thirty-two years old, a commercial airline mechanic in Painesville, Ohio, and a father who quietly wonders if life has already passed him by. Stuck in routine and haunted by the feeling that he's just existing, Garrett longs for something-anything-to remind him of who he used to be.

One stormy night, after discovering a strange, smoke-filled object hidden in his apartment, Garrett is caught in a surge of lightning and finds himself transported back to 1999-a world of pizza shops, video rentals, and the small-town streets of his youth.

With only one year to find a way back before the object's power fades on his birthday, Garrett is forced to confront the life he once knew. Along the way, he crosses paths with his younger parents, old friends, and the places that shaped him. But as he relives the past, Garrett begins to uncover what truly matters-and learns that sometimes, the key to moving forward lies in remembering where you started.
