An arrival that she and her friends will sooner rather than later have no choice but to accept and must prepare for the consequences of their soon-to-be new reality. "Strip. Now!" I aimed my weapon at him with a glare. Upon a passing light, I was granted a clearer view. Intense green eyes were on me, clenched jaw on a keen guard, and a visible scar at the curve of his left cheek. The idle look aired fearless against my warning, forcing my wary to hyperdrive. The sound of rustling ceased my staring. I watched him moving in largo. "Hurry up!" With a lopsided smirk, he started unbuttoning his coat, eyes boring holes on me. "What are you? An android rapist?" He let out with indifferent. "Shut it!" I yelled, trailing my eyes lower. "The pants too." *** Eve had volunteered for an assignment to meet the future. She was put into cryogenic sleep, expected to witness a greener and wiser world. But when she wake, she found herself at a dump, naked and cold. The air was thick with pollution, and malice at sight. After escaping from danger, she held the next person she met at gunpoint; a mysterious, handsome hybrid. Unbeknownst to Eve, Earth was no longer what she once knew. She soon learnt the truth behind the assignment. Left with no other option, she put her trust on Kael to fulfil her mission. Once, this world was painted in hues of green and blue,alive, breathing, and free. Now it lies cloaked in dust and sorrow, so pale that even the sky weeps in pity. Where wings once danced across endless skies, not a single feather dares to fall. The colours of life were stolen and those who took them, know their guilt too well. But isn't that the rhythm of life itself? To fall, to bleed, to rise again? Life was meant to be free wild as the wind, untamed as hope. Yet now, that life flickers...its final light trembling beneath the weight of despair. Until they came, the "saviours," wrapped in golden lies. They promised colour, promised salvation, but in the dark, they only snuffed out more stars. And just when the world's last song was about to fade life defied its own ending. It gave birth to something forbidden. Unnatural. Unwanted. Unbreakable. They were the echoes of rebellion souls forged in silence and fire. The world would tremble again, its nights filled with screams of the dark for the light these Unnaturals would ignite. For they were no longer just outcasts. They were "Revolutionaries" rising against the shadowed throne of a corrupted order, against the lies that chained the truth, and against the hands that silenced every voice that dared to speak. There was no electricity, and there was no way for the storm Sirens to be sounding, yet they were. The entire Town was awake; everyone had a weapon. They had grabbed guns, knives, swords, and bats if they could be wielded and used for self-defense; Renee aimed her rifle at the trees, looking desperately for an explanation. Why would a siren sound? They only sounded when they were in Danger, so where was the Danger? When the predators revealed themselves, that was where the siren noise was coming from. Renee could feel her heart jump into her throat. Her face went pale; they were here. They had found the Town. Terror and panic soon swept Huntingtown; everyone knew what those monsters could do. After all, they did conquer the planet and impose the "choosing." Huntingtown was created hoping that its isolation in a cold climate would keep the Predators away, but it didn't. A voice came over those speakers. A male voice Gruff and laced with a growl. It was almost as if whoever was speaking was annoyed and angry. "Although I have enjoyed seeing your little Town outmaneuver many hunters. I am afraid this is where your little games end. However, I will give you a chance to keep your freedom. A hunt. You will be red by your best hunter, Renee Madison." Renee felt her blood go cold as she stared wide-eyed at the ship. She was unknowingly dropping her gun at the news. " she will be your leader; she will be my prize. You have a time advantage. Go!" The ship took off, looking for a place to land, all while the news sank into the Town's residence. Renee had known she had fucked up when she fired at one of those predators and hit him. She had proven herself worthy of the hunt. Now she has to face the consequences, not only her but her entire Town had to. Trepidation: Prelude
Many thousands of years in the future, humanity has long since inhabited a region of space simply known as the "Habitable Zone of the Milky Way," or simply the "Habitable Zone." Many advancements have been made, though many are irrelevant to the billions -- or perhaps more -- of souls scattered across space. Everything operates under the silent, vague, but present scrutiny of the gods, with thaumaturgic talents dominating many human cultures in some capacity. Churches reign over the post-Altarum territories many years after the Silence. The World, at least as far as many within the Habitable Zone are concerned, is a cold, thoughtless plane of existence. It is within a single vessel, known as the CSS Groundskeeper, do things begin to influence the "Things To Be," as labeled by followers of the pantheon. Within this ship, two individuals will face the beginning of what is to be unimaginable horrors within an unforgiving universe, both with the same goal: do not succumb to the darkness.
