The Cullens have left Forks after an incident that happened involving Edward's supposed mate. In order for Edward to fully leave Bella, he makes the whole coven leave for her to get over them quicker.

Jasper follows his coven members to New York, to get better at controlling himself around humans, so he decides to enroll into Cornell and study philosophy.
