A long time ago, the world was plagued with magical threats that normal means couldn't be used to destroy them. Creatures, necromancers, witches, you name it. The world seemed to be heading into an age of destruction. But then, a group of magicians came together to destroy these magical threats. For several years, this group of magicians took the fight to these threats. One day, they managed to quell the threats. But they knew that the threat could come back. So they decided to train future magicians just in case any magical anomalies came back. This group of magician's fight in the shadows, stopping any magical threats from gaining power.

One day, Mikoto finds strange images flying through her head....and two names she can't get out of her head......Touma Kamijou....and Fairy Tail. However, Mikoto isn't the only one from Academy City who comes to Bellwood. All 10 Level 5s are here too, each of them for their own reasons, and tensions are running high between them and the Highbreed who have also turned up in the vicinity, leading to an all out Battle Royale between Aliens and Espers. However, unlike our world, the people are not all the same. There are hybrids. Humans that have feline features, dog features, and other animals. Mice who can talk and play an integral role in the formation of the world around them. Bound to their heroes when they meet, they must travel far and wide wherever their hero goes. But this story isn't about the mouse-kin. No, this story is about the transfer of power from one legacy to another, and the struggles in between.

Meanwhile, Ben is starting to realize the possibility that he might have feelings for Mikoto, but is scared of what it might mean... And while Mikoto feels the same way, she doesn't know what to do with those feelings.. But of course.. all things must eventually converge and resolve, for better or for worse.

Out of all 2.3 million people who lives in Academy City, 80% of them are students, many of whom are Espers, individuals who possess unique powers through science. Espers are ranked by Levels with the highest being Level 5, which only 7 people have officially achieved this rank. Until one day, a new Esper has been promoted to Level 5.
