Our parents spoke of a turning point, when something called the virtue gene reshaped humanity forever. It spread across the globe, transforming ordinary people into something extraordinary. But not everyone changed. And those who didn't... they grew fearful. Fearful of what they couldn't understand, of what no longer felt human to them. In 1986 they launched a plan to erase the virtue gene from existence. They believed they succeeded.
