Fae was tired of being the outcast in her own family. She was tired of her family being okay with how the world worked. Fae wanted more. She wasn't okay with rolling over and letting the government control her the way they had been controlling the Indigent for decades. She wasn't going to let her younger brother, Hamin, live the way she had for the past 19 years. Fae promised herself there would be a time when the world, and rule, of the Opulent ended. 

The Opulent made up 25% of the world and controlled everything from government to teaching to food and medicine. Now, nearly a century after the Opulent took power, Fae was looking for change. Her curiosity and understanding of a wider world have named her not only an outcast to her family, but to her peers in school, and quite possibly the Opulent in power. 

Come with Fae on a journey that will leave her questioning everything she has ever known, searching for a safe-haven in the most unlikely of places, and a love that can shatter her heart, as well as her dreams of a better life.

Outcasts takes place in a dystopian world in an undetermined year in the future, and the political parties depicted in this story - the Republicans and the Democrats - are in no way, shape or form a commentary on their real-life counterparts. I had very little knowledge of American politics when I wrote this story, and if I could go back and change their names I would. Throughout the story you will read of absurd flaws in both party agendas, and in no way did I ever intend to shame or defame the real life Republican and Democratic parties of America. See them as purely fictitious - that's what they are, after all.

We don't get that kind of recognition at the camps. There, we are only one thing in the military's eyes. We are weapons and we will act like it. Everyone else out there, bathing in the goodness they don't know they've got, they don't know about the roaches their stepping on. As long as their getting closer to the sky, they don't care what they stand on to reach it. They don't know about the sparkling dreamer that's killed 7 people before her 17th birthday. They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. They don't know about the fighter of steel and iron sucking on his bloody lip courtesy of the wars he battles in as nothing but a shadow. They don't know about the masked villain who would do anything to see the army they lead claim the throne They don't know about us. But they will, because we will rise. Then one day he found electricity again. He used it for bad and soon conquered the whole world. Years later our world now runs on electricity again. The Monroe militia is still in power and they force teens to go into an academy to train as merciless killers. This is where I go. One question I always have in mind is, In a world where hope is the only thing we have, Can love exist in the middle of all this war?
